Try This Project | Oona Dress
I wanted something cute to wear to a girl's dinner last Sunday and had the Oona Dress on my mind for a while! There was nothing appropriate in my stash to choose from, alas, so I went shopping at The Fabric Store and chose this beautiful Vintage Finish Linen in 'denim'. I'd made something in this colour before and knew it was going to look good on me.
It took quite a few hours to put the dress together because there were plenty of fiddly details: sewing casings, threading elastic, making button holes and the front tie. Nothing was difficult, just time consuming!
At some point I realised it was going to be too big, plus I had left the pattern pieces at work with all the elastic lengths printed on them; I bought the next size down and used the new elastic measurements to finish the dress. Crisis averted!
I need to go back and adjust the back elastic to be slightly tighter, but I love the finished dress and have plans for a second one, in lilac gingham for a day-time version.
I couldn't resist adding some of our upcoming labels from the Sweary Sewist 3.0 drop!
